Dear Veteran,
You sacrificed your entire life to serve our beautiful country. Everyday you persevere, despite the disrespect and being underserved. Beside you, I am honored to battle through the civilian world. The healthcare system is a mess, but I am whole-heartedly committed to the fight because you are worth it, and Veterans taught me that quitting is non-negotiable. Please hang on tight; you are not alone.
Mission Possible: Walk with Me
Duty Calls our Veterans to Shape America’s Youth for a Brighter Tomorrow
Program Proposal
Problem:
Listen to the cries for help: Civilians and Veterans come together based on America’s future deficits. In an age of technology and gaming, followed by the isolating Pandemic our kids may be headed down the wrong paths. Families are splitting, parents are competing, and the almighty cell phone is a child’s best friend. Life skills have been pushed to the back burner, and the core values of America, such as social responsibility, self-discipline, accountability, respect, good old fashioned hard work, and perseverance are being left in the dust when needed most.
Dr. Kelly Newby, a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist has teamed up with volunteer Veterans to provide a mentorship program for children and adolescents. The therapeutic camp is comprised of various groups, grounded in evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions. Additionally, these groups are inspired by popular and successful programs, including Boy/Girl Scouts, Big Brother/Sister, and Basic Training/Boot Camp.
This program is one based on meeting all sides where they are at and building a new and stronger foundation. Veterans’ jobs are never over, and they seek a purpose to impact and arm the future of this country with strong leaders. Our youth need to buck up and be prepared to take over when their time approaches. This camp is an opportunity to develop our nation’s youth via mentorship, and learning life skills through hands-on, adrenaline-filled, experiential teachings by our nation’s heroes.
